Disneyland is kicking off their Halloween Time event today.  What better way to start off than by unveiling their newest Haunted Mansion Holiday Gingerbread house?  This is the 17th season featuring this fun tradition of large gingerbread houses.

This year a seven foot tall animated, Oogie Boogie is featured.  The six foot tall gingerbread house is having a problem with gingerbread bugs and Oogie Boogie is on the case as the designer Tim Woolweber, associate art director for Disney Parks, explains.

“The gingerbread mansion this year has a bug problem – gingerbread bugs! But it’s not a problem that a gingerbread Oogie Boogie can’t fix. He pried open the roof of the gingerbread mansion and has his fork at the ready, happy to fix the infestation in the only way he would – by eating them.  But quite a few bugs have gotten loose and are rampaging across the ballroom table, tormenting the gingerbread zombies there, who are forced to defend themselves with silverware!”

With more than 70 “bugs” scurrying around the design, Oogie Boogie will have plenty to much on for awhile.

For extra fun the Disney Parks Blog posted a list of what the Disneyland Resort Central Bakery’s Executive Pastry Chef Jean-Marc Viallet and Lead Pastry Chef, Edgar Urtola used to create this amazing piece.
