On 2/13/18, Avatar’s Flight of Passage won an award for “Outstanding Visual Effects in a Special Venue Project.”

The VES Awards are the Visual Effects Society.

“The Visual Effects Society (VES) is a global professional honorary society and the entertainment industry’s only organization representing the full breadth of visual effects practitioners including artists, technologists, model makers, educators, studio executives, supervisors, PR/marketing specialists and producers. VES’ over 3,800 members in more than 35 countries worldwide contribute to all areas of entertainment – film, television, commercials, animation, special venue, games and new media.”

Flight of Passage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, is amazing. If you haven’t ridden it, it’s a 3-D effect ride. You are strapped into a vehicle, that is similar to a motorcycle. There is a huge screen and when the ride starts the vehicles will move and it makes you feel like you are soaring over Pandora on a banshee. You can even feel it breathe under you.

As my family says, Flight of Passage is like “Soarin’ on steroids”

You feel like you are swooping and diving through caves, mountains, and over water. It’s simply amazing. I can see why it was honored with this award.

The ride had previously won an Thea Award for “Outstanding Achievement- Attraction.”

If you haven’t experienced this ride, you need to get to Disney’s Animal Kingdom and give it a try!

What do you think? Do you like Flight of Passage? Do you think it deserves awards? Comment and let us know!
