The newest Marvel movie has just broke both Domestic and International records on opening weekend.
The epic Marvel crossover movie brought in about 250 million dollars domestically and about 630 million internationally. This was enough to beat the previous record set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015.
Be prepared for more record breaking sales and the film won’t hit China until May 11.
I’m sure this is good news for Disney as Avengers: Infinity War was the and incredibly expensive movie, costing about $350 million dollars. It looks like it’s paying off in the box office and now Disney shares went up 2% as of today, Monday April 30.
Disney is probably hoping to keep up the momentum until May 25th when Solo: A Star Wars Story comes out. There have been estimates of the film tracking at 150 million for opening weekend. I’m kind of waiting to see how that goes as Deadpool 2 has been moved to May 18, and all the rumors and fan fear surrounding the Solo film. The $150 million could end up being the global opening weekend total.
Only time will tell, but for now they are “winning” with the new Avengers film. If you haven’t gotten to see it, make sure you check it out. Avengers: Infinity War is currently in theaters, except for China, as it premiers there May 11.
