In early July, The Kingdom Insider reported that Disney was offering guests a $20 gift card per night in lieu of “Mousekeeping”.(Housekeeping). This offer was only for Disney’s Value Resorts.
Compensation in lieu of Housekeeping
Apparently, this idea is not just a “Disney” thing. I just checked into the “Hampton Inn Times Square Central” in Manhattan, NY and to my surprise I saw the sign posted below.
The sign reads
If you elect to not receive any housekeeping service during your stay, then we will add an additional 250 bonus points per day to your HHonors account.
I spoke with one of the front desk employees after I checked in to inquire when they. She told me that they had been doing this for “just about a year”. It seems that Disney may not have been to offer their guest this option. While this is the first Non-Disney resort I’ve seen, I have not paid too much attention to it before the start of this summer.
Not a “Value” Hotel.
The Hampton Inn Times Square Central, owned by Hilton, is by no means a “Value” Hotel. This hotel is located in 41 St Street and Broadway, right in the heart of the theatre district and Times Square. It is also located directly across the street from The New Amsterdam Theatre. I am actually headed over there tonight to watch Disney’s Aladdin. I don’t think it would be that far out there for Disney extend this offer to Moderate and Deluxe Resorts
Be sure to stay tuned to The Kingdom Insider to see my review of Disney’s Aladdin.
