The Force wasn’t with Disneyland this time.
After much speculation that Disneyland’s runDisney events would be cancelled in light of the postponement of the upcoming Star Wars Half Marathon, it’s now been officially confirmed that event is cancelled… along with all others.
And it doesn’t sound like there will be any more races in Disneyland for the foreseeable future.
The primary culprit? Construction.
Disneyland spokesperson George Savvas told the OC Register…
“While construction for the next several years will impact our ability to deliver the runDisney experience our guests love, we are excited about our future as the Disneyland Resort continues one of its largest multi-year expansions,” said George Savvas, a Disneyland spokesman. “For fans who love to be part of runDisney events, we will continue to offer races at our other properties around the world in 2018.”
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is a major multi-year project that will make navigating the area around Disneyland difficult, as will construction of a new hotel in Downtown Disney.
The Super Heroes Half Marathon in November will be the last Disneyland race for quite awhile. Those who have registered for 2018 races will receive refunds.
However, there are still plenty of races to be run in Walt Disney World. For a complete listing and information on registration, go here.
