Is Disney going to drop the mother of all MCU bombshells this weekend at D23 by revealing that The Fantastic Four will be in Avengers: Infinity War?

It’s possible, as evidenced by four mysterious covered figures that have appeared in the Marvel Studios area that set to be revealed Saturday.

The four mystery figures definitely fit the silhouette of The Fantastic Four, with Thing towering above the other three.

We’ve been speculating for months that Marvel may have worked out a deal with Fox that will see The Fantastic Four come to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and this might be the big reveal. Marvel worked out a deal with Sony to bring Spider-Man to the MCU with critical and commercial success. Given that Fox’s last attempt at a Fantastic Four film was a huge box office bomb, they may have nothing to lose by teaming up with Marvel Studios.

There’s a lot of odd coincidences that could be used to support this theory.

Again, this is all rumor and speculation, but it’s a pretty intriguing possibility. Revealing The Fantastic Four at D23 would be a HUGE move for Disney, and they could continue the hype into Comic-Con next week.

Other theories say the mysterious figures are Thanos’ henchmen, The Black Order. But why the secrecy? Those characters are definitely D-listers in the Marvel Universe, and there are more than four.

We have four characters that fit the size and shape of The Fantastic Four that will be revealed with some fanfare on Saturday.

Here’s hoping we’re not all sorely disappointed!

I've loved Disney as long as I can remember. As a former newspaper editor, web developer, and Disney comics freelancer, I'm able to combine that experience into writing about Disney online. I'm also the co-host of a Disney fan podcast called 'Pirates & Princesses.' Opinions mine.

  1. I think it IS the Black Order. Why the secrecy? Simply because we haven’t seen them yet. We don’t know how they’re going to look, hence the “big reveal”.

However, I hope I’m absolutely wrong and it is actually the Fantastic Four. That would be… well, Fantastic.

  2. I agree that the silhouettes look just like them. HOWEVER, if they’re going off the cast of the reboot, there’s a problem: Michael B. Jordan played Johnny Storm, but now plays Kilmonger in the new Black Panther. Unless they’re rebooting the cast AGAIN?

The ultimate joke would be if they reverted back to the original cast and had Chris Evans play both Cap and Johnny Storm, which would be sort of amusing in a way. Though, super unlikely to happen.

    • Of course they would reboot it, but no the statues aren’t of the Fantastic 4 they are the black order/ the children of Thanos

  3. I think I know how they can pull this off:

They can have it that the Fantastic four were heroes who were captured by Thanatos 😛 Or perhaps have it that the inifnity stones are what gave them their powers.
