This past Summer, we announced that JetBlue was recommending customers show up 3 hours early to Orlando International Airport. This recommendation came on the heals of the large amount of renovation happening at the airport. I made a comment about what Disney’s response would be for Magical Express return times. Today, Disney announced that guests would be picked up 4 hours prior to their departure time. I am surprised to see it has taken almost 4 full months to be announced.
The added hour to Disney’s Magical Express comes to no surprise.
With guests being told to show up 3 hours prior to departure, you are unable to do so today when using Magical Express. Beginning tomorrow 11/17/2017, guests will be picked up an hour earlier.

Disney is reporting that the need to deliver guests earlier to the Orlando airport is due to longer wait times for the new, stronger screening procedures for carry-on items by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The new procedure (implemented across the country) requires travelers to place all electronics larger than a cell phone in bins for X-ray screening in standard lanes. The new security measures do not apply to passengers enrolled in TSA Pre✓® who are using TSA Pre✓® lanes.
It seems that it is a combination of the two. Added security measures and the amount of construction that caused resulted in the new policy. Disney also stated that it would re-evaluate the new policy after the holiday season.
