Disney Unveils Retro Epcot Merchandise for the 35th Anniversary

Despite a planned extreme makeover of Walt Disney World’s second theme park, fans still love the Epcot of the 1980s. Those “old heads” will be in luck as Disney is launching a new line of retro Epcot merchandise to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the park.

Images of the new merchandises was posted today on the Disney Parks Blog, and it looks really slick. See for yourself below.

From the Disney Parks Blog…

“Many of the artists on my team are long-time Epcot fans,” explained [Eric Caszatt, Creative Manager with the Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media Creative Group]. “We wanted the art to have a distinct vintage feeling, and take its cues from artwork, logos, signage, and in-park graphics found in the early 1980s. We also referenced actual merchandise released during the first few years of operation. Many products then did not incorporate Disney characters into the artwork with the exception of Figment from the Journey Into Imagination attraction. I’m excited to see several products being released this fall can trace their heritage back to those original items.”

While Figment’s future in attractions may be in doubt, there’s certainly no shortage of Figment merchandise to be had. Here’s hoping that he continues to have a presence in the park, even if he gets the boot from the Imagination pavilion.

The article goes on to say that additional Epcot retro merchandise will be unveiled leading up to the 35th Anniversary on October 1, 2017.
