Disney’s Live Action ‘Christopher Robin’ Has New Cast Announcements

Lately, Disney has been working on several live action films based off the previously animated ones.  The live action versions Cinderella, The Jungle Book, and Beauty and the Beast have done pretty well for them, so why not something like Winnie the Pooh?   How about a Winnie the Pooh film where it’s years later and Christopher Robin is an adult?

That is what they are doing with the upcoming film.  So far they have cast Christopher Robin with Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan from Star Wars Episodes 1-3) and gave him a wife played by Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter.)  But who would voice Winnie the Pooh?  Jim Cummings of course!  Jim has been voicing Winnie the Pooh for the past 30 years and will continue to do so for this film.

Besides Christopher Robin, his wife, and Pooh, they have also cast Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond) to play Eeyore.  And for Tigger, Alan Tudyk (Firefly) has shown interest in voicing the bouncy tiger.  Both actors have an impressive resume for character voices with Brad Garrett working on A Bug’s Life, Casper, Finding Nemo and more.  Tudyk is known for voicing King Candy in Wreck-it-Ralph, The Duke of Weselton in Frozen, and K-2SO in Star Wars: Rogue One.

Other casting choices have been Matt Gatiss (Sherlock) to play Christopher’s boss ‘Keith’ and Bronte Charmichael to play Christopher’s daughter Madeline.

I really look forward to seeing how this film turns out.  I love the idea of taking the lovable characters from the 100 Acre Woods and seeing how they would handle the “real world” of today.
