Kingdom Hearts III is inching closer to a release date. A new trailer was presented over the weekend that gives us a closer look at the long (LONG) overdue sequel to the classic Square-Enix / Disney action RPG mashup.
The trailer debuted during the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra Tour in Los Angeles and was announced via Twitter.

More details are said to be forthcoming at D23 Expo 2017, however that’s not a promise of an actual release date. Since Kingdom Hearts II was released in 2006, several spin-offs and remakes have been made available for various gaming platforms. However, Kingdom Hearts III will mark the first proper installment in the series in over ten years. This seems to be par for the course for Square-Enix now, as Final Fantasy XV was in development for well over a decade.
The third Kingdom Hearts game sees the return of heroes Sora, Goofy, Donald and… Roxas, Sora’s alter-ego. We also get the usual assortment of Disney villains including Maleficent, Pete and Hades. This installment promises the ability to combine powers with companions, and will have several worlds based on newer Disney movies such as Big Hero 6.
Kingdom Hearts III is currently planned for release on PS4 and Xbox One.
