‘The Lion King’ Live-Action Movie Update – John Oliver Cast as Zazu


British comedian John Oliver has been cast as uppity hornbill Zazu in John Favreau’s live-action remake of The Lion King.

Oliver will join an impressive cast that includes Donald Glover as Simba, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa  and James Earl Jones, reprising his role as Mufasa from the 1994 animated film. Director John Favreau also directed the critically acclaimed box office hit remake of The Jungle Book.

Oliver inherits the role of Zazu from Mr. Bean star Rowan Atkinson.

John Oliver is known to many for his appearances on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Disney fans may also recognize Oliver’s voice as that of Wax Sherlock Holmes from the Gravity Falls episode “Headhunters.”

The live-action remake of The Lion King roars into theaters in 2019.
