Magic Kingdom: Security Added to Walt Disney World Resorts, Transportation and Ticket Center

Disney World Monorail

On Monday, Disney added bag checks and metal detectors to the TTC (Transportation and Ticket Center.) This long-rumored change means that guests coming in from the Seven Seas Lagoon or the monorails will need to go through security before coming into the park area.

Additional security stops will still be located in front of the Magic Kingdom entrance for guests taking buses.

Beginning on April 3, 2017, Disney will be adding security stops to the hotels on the “monorail loop” — Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Guests staying at these resorts will be screened before boarding the monorail.

Disney increased its security screening procedures in December 2015 by adding metal detectors. According to Disney, the goal is to make the screening process go much more smoothly and avoid the “bottleneck” that has become an inconvenient part of a trip to Walt Disney World in recent years.

I've loved Disney as long as I can remember. As a former newspaper editor, web developer, and Disney comics freelancer, I'm able to combine that experience into writing about Disney online. I'm also the co-host of a Disney fan podcast called 'Pirates & Princesses.' Opinions mine.
