Will there be an all-new, all-different X-Men coming to the MCU?

As we’ve been speculating for years, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men will finally make their way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to the pricey acquisition of 21st Century Fox by The Walt Disney Company.

Fans of the successful X-Men movie franchise have wondered whether or not those characters would be integrated into the MCU, or if Disney would maintain the current Fox franchise.

Now the answer has been revealed, thanks to an interview with Disney CEO Bob Iger.

When asked in a recent Hollywood Reporter interview about whether or not the X-Men would be rebooted into the MCU, Iger said…

I think it only makes sense. I want to be careful here because of what’s been communicated to the Fox folks, but I think they know. It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity. There shouldn’t be two Marvels.

And rebooting the X-Men could easily extend to Deadpool getting a reboot as well. When asked if Deadpool could theoretically become an Avenger, Iger said…

Kevin’s got a lot of ideas. I’m not suggesting that’s one of them. But who knows?

Meaning Kevin Feige will definitely be in charge of whatever is next for the X-Men going forward.

If Disney decides to reboot Deadpool, however, I hope they keep Ryan Reynolds. I literally cannot think of a better actor for the role.

I've loved Disney as long as I can remember. As a former newspaper editor, web developer, and Disney comics freelancer, I'm able to combine that experience into writing about Disney online. I'm also the co-host of a Disney fan podcast called 'Pirates & Princesses.' Opinions mine.
