Today, in the latest update to the My Disney Experience App, Online Check-In was added. Previously, this feature was only available on the full Disney World site. While Online Check-In is not a completely new feature at Disney World, having the functionality within the app is.
Online Check-In within My Disney Experience (MDE)
Checking into your room at Disney has never been easier. With the latest update to the MDE app you can do it all from your phone. Room requests, adding email or cell phone number for notification of room readiness and selecting anticipated arrival time are just a few of the options available here.
Self test of Online Check-In
I have multiple trips coming up and one is within 60 days, which is the day mark where you can begin the check-in process. I wanted to try this out for myself.
Once I clicked through ge update messages, I navigated to my plans and selected my next hotel reservation. Once selected there was a button The said “Begin Check-In”. Below is a screen shot I took of the first page, where I put my email and phone number. Above there was a section to put your payment method for incidentals (I didn’t show that for privacy reasons). Adding my contact info will allow Disney to contact me directly when my room is ready. Subsequently allowing me to head direct to my room without stopping at true front desk.
Next, I selected my anticipated Resort arrival time. On the following page it allowed me to make a room request. Options included Higher floor, first floor, close to elevator as well as a few others. You can select two of these in the order of which you would like to happen first. Finally, there was a check box to specify that having a room available earlier would be more preferred than the options above. I submitted my preferences and finalized the check in.
Additionally, for my reservation in November, it is too far out to check-in. Conveniently, there is a box showing the number of days before I can do so!
Final Thoughts on Online Check-In
In conclusion, there isn’t anything different from the standard online check-in on he full site. This update just provides guests with the added convenience of doing it on the go.
