Recently there have been 33 permit filings for the Epcot area, with 27 of them being specifically along the “Avenue of the Stars” (a backstage access road that goes around Epcot.)
27 of the permits seem to have one thing in common, project code “JPEC8060.”
What could this be for?
It depends on who you ask. According to WDWNT they believe it’s for the Epcot Hotel that is supposed to be built sometime in the future.
The guys and gals over at the WDWMagic Forums seem to think it’s in could possibly be in relation to the upcoming Food and Wine Festival. Danlb_2000 pointed out that Buena Vista Construction is listed as the contractor and they are not the ones that usually handle hotel construction. Danlb also had a great point that there would be a South Florida Water Management permit in place before notices of commencement would go out for something like a hotel. This makes a bit more sense.
It could also have something to do with the Skyliner system coming in, or the space themed restaurant they updated information on today, the rumor that they might move the Leave a Legacy stones, or the construction on Ratatouille, the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy attraction, or whatever they are doing to the Wonders of Life building.
So for now we don’t really know what it is. It could be a number of things as there is a lot of upcoming events and work to be done in the area.
There were other permits filed for Buena Vista Construction that applied to other areas like Magic Kingdom Drive, World Drive, Monorail Way, and Magic Kingdom’s Caribbean Way.
