D23 Expo Japan is currently underway and Disney Parks Chairman Bob Capek has just announced an opening date for the new Pixar Pier–June 23, 2018.
Guests will enter the Pixar Pier area through the new marquee. The iconic Pixar lamp will be added to it later this year.
Pixar Pier is the re-imagined Paradise Pier, that closed last month. The upgraded and re-named, Pixar Pier will be coming this summer to Disney California Adventure. With an opening four “neighborhoods” for guests to explore. Filled with new themed food, merchandise, and re-themed attractions.
Attractions like the Incredicoaster, which was previously California Screamin, will use new character figures, lighting and special effects for a revamped “high-speed adventure.”
Paint the Night
Besides the new re-themeing, in June there will be a new float added to the “Paint the Night” parade. This new float will feature Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, and Frozone from The Incredibles.
The float will pay an homage to the mid-century-modern look of The Incredibles films with “high-tech, pop-art effects.”
The Disney Parks Blog described it as:
“Dynamic and innovative visual technology will also bring Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack to life, showcasing their powers in surprising ways!”
Guests can look forward to this new float in June, and the Paint the Night Parade’s return during the first-ever “Pixar-Fest” beginning in Disneyland Resort on April 13.
