This is the fifth in a series of articles to help you plan the perfect date night in and out of the parks. We’ll explore how to have a date night at Magic Kingdom area resorts, Epcot area resorts, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom.
Hollywood Studios Date Night
In the process of starting this article, I asked my husband what he thought the perfect date night at Hollywood Studio’s would be. His response was to ride Toy Story Midway Mania over and over again to see who would be the real champion. While competing against each other is exciting for us, I’m not sure repeated Toy Story Midway Mania is exactly the perfect date night for everyone. Hopefully, this article will give some options that will work for you and your partner.
One thing to keep in mind, Hollywood Studio’s is currently in the process of a major overhaul. With that being said, entertainment options change. Right now, the Music of Pixar Live! is running from now until August 27, 2017. Arrive around 4:30pm, and head over to the theater to watch either the Music of Pixar Live or my personal favorite, Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage. I find the Beauty and the Beast show enchanting, it’s all your favorite songs with performers in bright, colorful costumes, and singing and dancing. You can’t go wrong with either show, they are both a great way to start your date night.
After the show, take in dinner. If the weather is pleasant, I highly recommend the Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge. It’s outside of the Hollywood Brown Derby, and includes a limited, smaller plate menu that is a fantastic option for a delicious meal. We love to sit on this patio and people watch! Large, burgundy umbrellas cover the tables so you won’t be sitting in direct sunlight. Start your meal with the classic Hollywood Brown Derby Cobb. It’s a smaller version of their famous salad and it is a great start to your meal, plus when the weather is warm, it’s nice and cool! We like to share the salad and then follow up with the Derby Sliders. One duck and one Wagyu Beef, there is something for all tastes! If you’re looking for a drink, the Brown Derby Lounge serves some seriously fun flights, including a fabulous Margarita Flight. This is the PERFECT option to accompany a light meal!
Schedule your Fastpasses to start around 5:45pm/6:00pm. For tier one, if you’re looking for competition, head to Toy Story Midway Mania or if you’re looking for thrills, you can’t go wrong with Rockin’ Roller Coaster. As far as your tier two Fastpasses, Star Tours is a fun option or you could go with the classic Muppet Vision, which is always good for corny jokes and a few laughs. For those braver than myself, Tower of Terror is always a must do!
Once 8:30pm hits, you have several options of things to do. There is the new nighttime show, Disney Movie Magic followed by Star Wars a Galactic Spectacular on the front of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. I haven’t seen Disney Movie Magic in person, but from what I’ve seen online, I’ll definitely be taking it in the next time I’m there. Your other option is Fantasmic. Unfortunately, they’re at the same time, so you’ll have to select one or the other. In reality, it doesn’t seem like you could go wrong with either and both will be a great way to end your date night. After the show you can head back to your resort or set off for the Boardwalk and head to some of the exciting nightlife options over there!
