RUMOR – ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Ride Coming to Epcot?

Could Walt Disney World be getting an attraction based on Beauty and the Beast? It’s certainly possible.

Epcot will be undergoing some major renovations over the next few years. Rumors of additions to the aging park include new World Showcase pavilions, a Guardians of the Galaxy attraction taking the place of the Universe of Energy, Coco replacing Donald in the Mexico pavilion and a clone of the Ratatouille attraction from Disneyland Paris in the France pavilion.

Except the Ratatouille ride might not be a direct clone, according to an anonymous tipster. Rather, the trackless ride system would be used but re-themed as another, more popular Disney IP that also takes place in France — Beauty and the Beast.

Adding a Beauty and the Beast attraction over Rataouille makes sense as the Pixar film is already 10 years old and not nearly as popular as Belle and friends. The live-action Beauty and the Beast remake dominated the box office this spring, which would certainly make it a more lucrative IP to base a ride on.

Clearly something is up in the France pavilion as papers have been filed to begin work between France and Moracco. Chip and Co. has uploaded the PDFs of these plans and you can view them here.

Again, there is a lot of rumor and speculation at this point in regards to what’s next for Epcot. And plans do change. Expect Disney to make some official announcements concerning the park’s future at the D23 Expo.
