RUMOR – Disney Annual Passholders Can Say Goodbye to Great Movie Ride, Ellen’s Energy Adventure

There’s a rumor that Disney will allow annual passholders to say goodbye to The Great Movie Ride and Ellen’s Energy Adventure by lifting blockout dates in August.

Both will be permanently closing next month to make way for new attractions that were recently announced at Disney’s D23 Expo. The Great Movie Ride will make way for Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway and Ellen’s Energy Adventure will become an unnamed Guardians of the Galaxy E-ticket attraction.

Disney isn’t even giving guests time to grieve the loss of these attractions, let alone allowing out-of-state guests to plan a trip to see them once last time. It’ll be less than one month from announcement to closure, which is incredibly quick.

The plus side is that these new attractions are being fast-tracked — something that Disney seems to be getting better and better at these days.

Disney is also having an after hours meetup at The Great Movie Ride later this month, but it’s filled to capacity.

Both attractions will close on August 13, 2017.

I've loved Disney as long as I can remember. As a former newspaper editor, web developer, and Disney comics freelancer, I'm able to combine that experience into writing about Disney online. I'm also the co-host of a Disney fan podcast called 'Pirates & Princesses.' Opinions mine.
