RUMOR – Is a Disney casting call for “Scientific Interns” tied to ‘Journey Into Imagination’?

Disney has just put out a casting call looking for young actors to play “scientific interns” somewhere in Walt Disney World. But what could it be for?

Male and Female Actors to portray wide-eyed and naïve “scientific interns”. Set in a laboratory environment, the warm and friendly “intern” enthusiastically supports various interactive audience experiences.

Performers should have experience in interactive improvisational performance and must project a warm and inviting persona.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Wardrobe/Rehearsal Facility
3271 Sherberth Rd.
Kissimmee, FL 34747

Performers must be at least 18 and authorized to work in the United States.
Actors should prepare a one minute comedic monologue.
Callbacks will be held Thursday, September 28th, 2017 in Orlando, Florida. Candidtes must be available for the callback to be considered.

So where could these “wide-eyed” and “naive” interns be placed?

Well, the first location that came to mind was the badly aging Imagination pavilion. While many major announcements about Epcot’s impending overhaul were made at D23, a refurbishment of Journey Into Imagination was noticeably missing.

Perhaps Disney just hasn’t finalized what will become of that attraction yet, as they were surveying guests about Figment’s importance just a few months ago. (The rumor mill has been buzzing about the possibility of an Inside Out attraction replacing Figment for years, but nothing has come of it.)

So maybe Disney is doing something temporary that fits the current scientific theme of the pavilion?

If not Imagination, maybe something else?

Big Hero 6? And expansion of the Muppet Mobile Lab? Both fit the scientific theme of the casting call, and we could see some wide-eyed interns being on the receiving end of scientific shenanigans.

We’ll keep an eye on this one for sure!

I've loved Disney as long as I can remember. As a former newspaper editor, web developer, and Disney comics freelancer, I'm able to combine that experience into writing about Disney online. I'm also the co-host of a Disney fan podcast called 'Pirates & Princesses.' Opinions mine.
