Could we be getting closer to a swan song for our favorite Disney songbirds?

There has been a rumor floating around for months that Disney is currently kicking around the idea of finally closing down the classic attraction on the east coast. One rumored scenario would see José, Michael, Pierre and Fritz being relocated to an Adventureland restaurant (The Skipper Canteen?) and becoming part of a “dinner theater” experience, as Walt had originally envisioned. But it could be that the Enchanted Tiki Room will once again be under new management.

And her name is Moana.

We talked about the possibility of Moana coming to Walt Disney World in a bigger way before via an old abandoned “volcano coaster idea.”

Now, the rumor mill is up and running again, but with a slightly different spin.

According to insider marni1971 on WDW Magic, a proposal on the table would see Moana coming to the existing attraction, as another new roller coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom would likely be cost prohibitive.

With lines for Moana lasting for hours at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party, you can probably expect them to work in a character meet and greet somehow.

This is all just a rumor for now, but given that the current Enchanted Tiki Room show is just a shortened version of the original to deal with fire damage, it’s likely that Disney has been weighing some options for a long-term replacement.

Given its iconic nature, I would expect that the Disneyland version would remain intact.

I've loved Disney as long as I can remember. As a former newspaper editor, web developer, and Disney comics freelancer, I'm able to combine that experience into writing about Disney online. I'm also the co-host of a Disney fan podcast called 'Pirates & Princesses.' Opinions mine.
