Will the Tron Lightcycle Power Run be confirmed to be coming to Walt Disney World, replacing the aging Tomorrowland Speedway?
WDW News Today seems to think Disney will make an announcement at D23 this weekend, but they haven’t offered up any concrete proof. The site says “We feel fairly confident about calling this announcement “confirmed” since several unrelated sources within the Walt Disney Company are now providing this information.”
According to the article, the Speedway would close in 2018 to make room for the state-of-the-art coaster.
Again, this has not yet been confirmed by Disney, so until then it’s still considered a rumor. However, several Disney insiders have been reporting on the Tron coaster making its way stateside, and where there’s smoke there’s usually fire.
UPDATE 4:32 P.M.
The new rumors of the Tron Lightcycle Power Run making its way to Walt Disney World seem to be originating from the WDW Magic forums. According to user marni1971, the Tron coaster will not replace the Tomorrowland Speedway, but rather be directly behind it (see photo.)
WDW Magic does have a reputation for having several reliable “insiders” posting on its forums, but we won’t know for sure if any of these rumors turn out to be true until this weekend.
