‘Star Wars Episode IX’ Director Colin Trevorrow Just Quit the Film

Maybe the force isn’t strong with this one?

It was just announced that Star Wars Episode IX director Colin Trevorrow has just stepped down.  Lucasfilm is saying the split was “mutual.”  It could be, but that isn’t always the case, look at Jake Paul.  But, the statement from Lucasfilm seems that he could have been “got gone”:

Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process, but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ.  We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon.”

This is a month after they brought in a new script writer Jack Thorne (‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’) to rewrite the script that Trevorrow and co-writer Derek Connolly created.

There have been quite a few shake-ups as of late with the Star Wars films.  Rogue One had a bunch of re-shoots, and then the directors on Han Solo were fired and Ron Howard was put in to finish the film.

No new director has been named and Episode IX is still scheduled for release on May 24, 2019.  I guess we’ll have to wait and see what the force brings next.

Apparently Yoda was right and it’s “Do or do not.  There is no try.”
