Well, that was resolved quickly.
The Walt Disney Company has reversed it decision to exclude film critics from the L.A. Times from its advance press screenings. The blackout occurred because Disney felt the Times was not fair in its reporting of the company’s business dealings with the city of Anaheim.
According to the L.A. Times, Disney sent the following statement…
“We’ve had productive discussions with the newly installed leadership at the Los Angeles Times regarding our specific concerns, and as a result, we’ve agreed to restore access to advance screenings for their film critics,” Disney said in a statement sent to The Times on Tuesday.
In addition to several other media outlets choosing to boycott reviews and promotion of Disney films, many film critics associations also stated that Disney would be ineligible for year-end awards due to the ban.
