While the Force may be strong with another intergalactic Disney franchise this weekend, let’s not forget about the upcoming Star Wars Land expansions in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
According to the OC Register, Disneyland’s Star Wars Land construction is coming together much smoother than the second Death Star.
… crews are rapidly finishing work on the rockwork and landscaping around the new route for the Rivers of America. The waterway is scheduled to be open to boat traffic again in the latter half of 2017, as is the Big Thunder Trail that connects Frontierland to the back side of Fantasyland.
Star Wars Land opens in both Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World sometime in 2019.
Other refurbishments currently being worked on in Disneyland include the Indiana Jones Adventure, the Guided Tours Garden and Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! which is a re-theming of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
A “de-furbishment” that was announced last month was the return of the original Space Mountain in celebration of the attraction’s 40th anniversary this year. It’s unclear if Hyperspace Mountain will ever return with Star Wars Land set to open in two years’ time.
