Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique: Are Disney’s ‘Princess Makeovers’ Worth the Price?

Disney parks are some of the most magical places you will ever visit.  The stories, the characters, the shows and the theming can’t be beat!  Pixie dust abounds.

There is one place that your little princess can actually become her favorite princess complete with a generous sprinkle of pixie dust– the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Walt Disney World and Disneyland both have their own boutiques located in Fantasyland, with Walt Disney World also having a location at Disney Springs Marketplace.  From my understanding the Disney Springs location is larger and easier to get a reservation for.

When we went we reserved a time at the Magic Kingdom in Cinderella Castle.  You need to plan ahead to make sure you get a reservation as they go quickly.  For the Magic Kingdom call 407-939-7895. For Disneyland call 1 (714) 781-7895.  At the end of the article I give a report about our own personal experience.

How long does the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique take?

They normally say 35-45 minutes, BUT the later it gets in the day the longer it might take.  Of course if you are doing an outfit and photos it will take longer.  We only did the hair style and figured about an hour and a half and we were good.

Do you have to buy a dress?

No.  You do not have to buy a dress unless you choose the package with a dress.  My mother made my daughter an Aurora dress.  The ages go up to 12 but not all girls can wear the dress sizes available, as was my daughter’s case.  You can bring your own dress with you.  Kairi changed before we went inside.

Is it worth the price?

I say YES!  I was worried it wouldn’t be, but the look on my daughter’s face told me that it was worth every penny.  It is a whole experience!  They greet you at the door and when you check in the Fairy Godmother’s-in-Training are wonderful.  They interact with your child.  Then you go to a very pretty waiting area, where you can see into the salon area.  They are taken back to a chair and given the total royal treatment.  Afterwards, if you would like photos with the Memory Maker they offer Photo Pass photography.

Should I tip at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique?

I’ve seen different opinions on this.  I do not believe a tip is required, but after all they do I say give them a tip!

Our Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Story…

We hadn’t been to Walt Disney World for a couple of years and our daughter Kairi was begging to go to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.  Secretly we called ahead and got her a time slot and we arranged to fast pass some character meet and greets for afterwards.  My mother made her an Aurora dress (I explain more about that below) and I told her to put it on to meet the princesses.   We were “early” for our princess time so we took her into the castle to look around.  Then we went to the door and went in.  She was so happy to go in, but she didn’t even realize what was going on for a couple of minutes.  Then when the said they had her reservation, the look on her face was worth all of it.  She had  a blast and the Fairy Godmothers-in-Training were quite amused by her feisty attitude.  They asked her who her favorite princess was and she said “Aurora” and her “Second favorite was Anna because she punched Hans and showed him who’s boss.”  Girl power won them over.

It was a fantastic experience.  They took their time and made each child feel like they were the most important person in the room.   When I looked around all the children were beaming they were so excited.  When we were there the Royal Majesty Makers stopped in and they were hilarious, interacting with guests.

The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique wasn’t just a great experience for her, it was lots of fun for me too!
