Today is Walt Disney’s 116th birthday–born December 5, 1901, in Hermosa, Illinois.
He would grow up to become a brilliant business man and visionary. Luckily, he shared some of his wisdom from time to time and it was usually spot on. Here are some Walt Disney quotes to remember him by.
His version of never give up.
“We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
For when life doesn’t always go the way you want it to.
“All the adversity I’ve had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me… You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.”
When you need to appreciate what makes you….you
“The more you like yourself, the less you are like anyone else, which makes you unique.”
For when you have a dream, but it seems impossible.
“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”
Action is stronger than words.
“The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.”
Again, more encouragement to follow your dreams. (Who else sings this when they read it?..yes we can…..)
“If you can dream it, you can do it.”
Plan your dreams, believe in them and follow through.
“First, think. Second, believe. Third, dream. And finally, dare.”
Why we must leave focus on imagination, critical thought, and education.
“Our greatest natural resource is the minds of our children.”
Putting the wonder of it all into perspective. Stay humble.
“I only hope that we don’t lose sight of one thing-that it was all started by a mouse.”
Appreciating those who appreciate your dream.
“You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality.”
There’s a lot of good advice to take from Walt Disney. We were left with amazing stories, fantastic parks, and lots of wisdom. He wasn’t perfect, and not everything worked out, but if you have a dream, plan for it, and work at it to see where it takes you. Don’t give up. Remember family is important and the next generation is important. Keep moving forward. Happy Birthday Mr. Disney!
