Disney World could be entering one of its BIGGEST years in decades.
From brand-new lands and major attractions to a brand-new Disney Vacation Club resort and long-awaited updates to some classic experiences, 2027 is shaping up to be the beginning of a completely new era for Walt Disney World. And this could only be the beginning.
Starting in 2027 and continuing in the years that follow, Disney World is entering a period where major new lands, attractions and experiences are expected to keep arriving across the resort.
So what exactly could be coming in 2027? Here’s everything we know — and everything we’re watching closely — as of now.

🌴 TROPICAL AMERICAS — ANIMAL KINGDOM
One of the biggest transformations happening at Disney World is taking place at Animal Kingdom.
The former DinoLand U.S.A. area is being transformed into Pueblo Esperanza, an enormous new land inspired by the landscapes, cultures and wildlife of Central and South America.
And this isn’t simply a refurbishment of the existing area. Disney is creating an entirely new environment that will feature two major attractions, including experiences inspired by Encanto and Indiana Jones.
The Encanto-inspired attraction will bring guests into the world of the Madrigal family, while the Indiana Jones attraction will send guests on an adventure involving an ancient Maya temple.
If everything stays on schedule, Tropical Americas is expected to open in 2027.

👹 MONSTROPOLIS — HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS
Hollywood Studios is about to get a LOT more monstrous.
Disney is building Monstropolis, a massive new land based on Monsters, Inc. For the first time at a Disney park, guests will actually be able to step inside the city where Mike, Sulley and the rest of the monsters live.
The centerpiece will be the highly anticipated Monsters, Inc. Door Coaster, which will take guests racing through the world of Monstropolis. Disney has described it as its first suspended coaster and first coaster featuring a vertical lift, making it one of the resort’s most unique new attractions. This will open later in 2027 or early 2028. This will be the last installment of this land.
The land will also feature new dining, shopping and entertainment inspired by the Monsters, Inc. universe.
Most of Monstropolis is currently expected to open in 2027.

🏛️ CAROUSEL OF PROGRESS REIMAGINING — MAGIC KINGDOM
One of Disney World’s most iconic classic attractions is also getting a major update.
The Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom is being reimagined with four new decades added to the story, bringing the attraction further into the modern era.
Disney has also revealed that one of the new scenes will feature a Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic, making this update particularly significant for Disney fans.
The attraction’s original story of technological progress will continue, but the new scenes will allow guests to see how the future continues to evolve.
Disney has announced the project, with the updated attraction expected to arrive around the 2027 timeframe.

🌊 DISNEY’S LAKESHORE LODGE
Disney World is also getting a brand-new resort.
Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge will be a new Disney Vacation Club property located along Bay Lake.
The resort is planned to feature 967 accommodations, including waterfront Lake Houses, giving guests another option for staying directly on Walt Disney World property. And unlike some of the other projects on this list, this one already has a specific opening date.
📅 July 1, 2027
That makes Lakeshore Lodge one of the most concrete additions currently scheduled for 2027.

🎩 FIGMENT & DREAMFINDER — EPCOT
Here’s where things get REALLY interesting.
Disney has officially announced that Dreamfinder is returning alongside Figment for a brand-new journey into the world of imagination at EPCOT. For longtime Disney fans, the return of Dreamfinder is a HUGE deal. However, there’s an important distinction here:
Disney has NOT announced an official opening date for the new Figment and Dreamfinder attraction.
So while we’re keeping this on our 2027 watch list, this one is still a prediction.
👀 OUR GUESS: 2027
We think there’s a possibility this new attraction could open sometime in 2027 — but until Disney announces a date, we’re treating this as a wild card rather than a confirmed 2027 opening.

🌐 SPACESHIP EARTH REIMAGINING — EPCOT
And then there’s Spaceship Earth.
Disney has announced plans for a major new version of Spaceship Earth, with the attraction being reimagined around themes of human connection and the modern world. The project has generated plenty of discussion among Disney fans because Spaceship Earth is one of EPCOT’s defining attractions.
But once again, there’s a major caveat: There is currently no confirmed 2027 opening date.
That means this belongs in the wild-card category.
👀 OUR GUESS: 2027
Could Spaceship Earth reopen in 2027? We think it’s possible. But until Disney officially provides an opening date, this remains our prediction — not a confirmed 2027 opening.

🏔️ THE YETI IS RETURNING TO EXPEDITION EVEREST!
FINALLY. 😭
One of the most exciting smaller-scale changes coming to Animal Kingdom could be happening on one of our favorite attractions: Expedition Everest. The legendary Yeti is expected to return to full movement, meaning guests could once again see the Audio-Animatronic actually move and swing during the attraction’s famous encounter.
For years, the Yeti has remained essentially stationary during the ride’s finale. Now Disney is working toward bringing that movement back. Disney has not announced a specific opening date for the restored Yeti, but we’re expecting this to happen sometime around 2027.
And honestly? It’s about time.
🏰 SO WHAT COULD 2027 LOOK LIKE?
If all of these projects come together, Disney World could have an absolutely massive year.
Our current 2027 Disney World watch list looks like this:
🌴 Tropical Americas — Animal Kingdom
👹 Monstropolis — Hollywood Studios
🏛️ Carousel of Progress update — Magic Kingdom
🌊 Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge — Bay Lake
🎩 Figment & Dreamfinder — EPCOT (our prediction)
🌐 Spaceship Earth reimagining — EPCOT (our prediction)
🏔️ Expedition Everest Yeti restoration — Animal Kingdom (our prediction)
And that’s what makes 2027 so interesting.
Some of these projects are officially announced for 2027, while others are educated predictions based on Disney’s announcements and the current development timeline. Either way, Disney World is entering a period of massive change.
And if the plans continue moving forward, 2027 could mark the beginning of one of the most significant transformation periods Walt Disney World has seen in decades. This is just the beginning.
