When Universal Orlando announced a new theme park in the works, Universal fans across the world showed an abundance of excitement and anticipation.
Then Covid-19 came and put pretty much everything, including Universal Orlando’s “Epic Universe” project on hold.
Well this morning at a Morgan Stanley Investor Conference – Comcast CEO Brian Roberts casually slipped to investors that construction on Epic Universe would be resuming quickly. While it wasn’t a formal announcement the fact he didn’t correct himself was a sign.
Now following that slip, is the formal announcement by the company!
Universal followed Comcast’s Brian Roberts’s announcement with a formal press release:
“Work on Epic Universe paused in July 2020, as the company adjusted plans in the midst of the pandemic. The restart will begin immediately – but is expected to take several months before reaching full-speed, as Universal re-staffs for the project and reassembles its vendor and contractor teams.”
It goes on saying:
“Restarting Epic Universe will result in hundreds of jobs within Universal and thousands of jobs across Central Florida. These positions include highly skilled professional positions, all levels of construction jobs and beyond.”
