Celebrate The Holidays At Universal Orlando Resort

The 2019 Holiday Season is almost upon us, and Universal Orlando Resort invites you to put a little mischief in your merry as they unwrap a resort-wide celebration that spans across 2 parks and their eight hotels.

Beginning on Nov. 16th and running through Jan. 5th, there’s no better way to ring in the holidays and new year than with minions, wizards, and the residents of Whoville. The best part? Everything Universal Resort Holiday is included in your regular park admission. That’s right, you don’t need to purchase an extra ticket to enjoy the magical mayhem at Universal. Here’s what you can expect during the holiday celebration:

Christmas in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Universal leaves no stone unturned when it comes to preparing The Wizarding World for the holidays. There’s holiday themed food, drink, spectacular decorations, and live entertainment.

With the flick of a wand, the shops and buildings of Hogsmeade are delightfully adorned with whimsical garland and lights. Each wizarding shop features its own décor, so true to the Harry Potter stories, you’ll think the shopkeepers themselves decorated it. There will be seasonal food and drinks. However, the most delicious and insta-worthy of them all is the Hot Butterbeer. Top off your night at Hogsmeade with the Frog Choir as they perform seasonal songs.

Diagon Alley and London are transformed with festive décor and brilliant lighting. There are special holiday treats and drinks, the atmosphere is brimming with excitement and Celestina Warbeck and the Banshees have a special show prepared including four original songs, one being the catchy tune, “My Baby Gave Me a Hippogriff for Christmas.”

However, the icing on the Christmas cookie is the state of the art projection-mapping show on Hogwarts Castle, “The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts.” The show plays intermittently from dusk until park close each night. Muggles and wizards alike will be absolutely dazzled to see the castle come alive! There are breathtaking scenes with fairies creating the Christmas tree, the Weasley twins doing what they do best- making mischief and so much more! The projection-mapping show starts around dusk and last for about 8 minutes. The show is repeated around every 20 minutes.

Grinchmas at Universal’s Islands of Adventure

“Fah who foraze! Dah who doraze!
Welcome Christmas! Bring your cheer!
Fah who foraze! Dah who doraze!
Welcome all who’s far and near!”

It wouldn’t be the holidays at Universal Orlando without Grinchmas! The green sourpuss himself will be returning to Islands of Adventure for Christmas fun. During the holiday season, Seuss Landing is spectacularly decorated with the holiday charm and cheer of Whoville. Your heart will grow three sizes as you delight in the hilarious hijinks of The Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular, a live retelling of the classic tale starring the Grinch, featuring music recorded by Mannheim Steamroller.

You’ll have an opportunity to meet the master of mischief himself, the Grinch and his dog- Max. The cheerful residents of Whoville, The Whos, will be wandering all over Seuss Landing, welcoming you to their town and the celebrations taking place.

Universal’s Holiday Parade Featuring Macy’s

Skip the trip to New York and head straight to Universal Orlando Resort! Universal’s Holiday Parade featuring Macy’s features more than a dozen festive balloons and 15 floats for your enjoyment! You’ll catch some of your favorite Universal characters making Christmas mischief, including Minions, Shrek and more. Just imagine Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, minus the freezing temps!

The man of the season- Santa, typically makes an appearance lighting up the beautiful tree in New York. Between the elaborate floats, the characters and lighting of the Christmas tree, Universal’s Holiday Parade is sure to give you warm and fuzzy feelings to last an entire season.

Stay in the heart of the Holidays at Universal Orlando Resort Hotels

I always suggest staying at one of Universal Orlando Resort’s 8 on-site hotels, but during the holidays, any one of their hotels is truly your home away from home. From Thanksgiving to Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year’s, all the traditional feasts and festivities are here, along with a few surprises and beautiful decorations.

If you want to experience the holidays at Universal Orlando during the busiest times, I highly recommend you stay on-site at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Universal’s Hard Rock Hotel and Loews Royal Pacific Resort so you can receive the Unlimited Express benefit for all of your party for your entire length of stay. Unlimited Express is complimentary with your hotel reservation and allows you to wait in a life designated specifically for those who have the Unlimited Express pass. Shorter wait times translate to more rides and attractions.

Universal Orlando Resort Tickets

Although everything having to do with the holiday season is included in your park ticket, I recommend purchasing Universal’s 2 Park- 2 Day Ticket. The ticket entitles guest admission to BOTH Universal Orlando Resort and Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme parks on the same day.

If you’re thinking about riding the Hogwart’s Express, and I urge you to grab your butter beer and do so, you will need the 2 Park- 2 Day ticket. The train connects Hogsmeade which is in Islands of Adventure, to Diagon Alley which is in the original Universal Orlando Park.
