Did you know that the month of May is “Star Wars” month? You can nerd out at Disneyland from now until June 4 and enjoy special food, treats, and attractions. I popped over to Disneyland this past weekend to experience it all for myself so that I can share it all with you. If you are a “Star Wars” nerd like myself, then so many things are in store for you at Galaxy’s Edge! Characters interactions, specialty food and treats, merchandise, and attractions…it’s every “Star Wars” fanatic’s dream come true!
Food and Treats
Docking Bay 7
This awesome dining spot has a few seasonal items for “Star Wars” month. I tried the Trandoshan-style Pasta with Braised Bantha (Chile-braised Beef, Buttered Garlic Cavatelli, Seasonal Vegetables, Zesty Avocado Sauce, and Balsamic Glaze). They offer a similar Braised Bantha dish with a different twist occasionally. This one was absolutely delicious; however, it’s not my favorite one I’ve tried. Nonetheless, the “Bantha” is as tender and flavorful as always, and the zesty avocado sauce was a really great addition to the dish!
The other seasonal item offered at this time is the Yobshrimp Mix Stew with Swamp Grains (Spicy Tomato Curry Pan Roast with Shrimp, Sausage, Vegetables, and Herb Rice).
For dessert, I had the Vintian Mineral Mousse (Banana Brûlée-centered Dark Chocolate Mousse, Strawberry Mousse, Vanilla Chantilly, Chocolate Crumble, and Cherry Garnish), which is offered year-round. The presentation of this dessert is out of this galaxy, and the flavors take your tastebuds to lightspeed! It’s one of my favorite “Star Wars”-themed desserts I’ve probably ever had!
Milk Stand
In celebration of “Star Wars” month, the Milk Stand also has a few new seasonal items (that I hope stick around!). The first item is the Tenoo Swirl Crunchies Cereal (blue milk topped with Strawberry and Grape Candy Pebbles). The raspberry sauce with the candy pebbles, aka nerds, take this already delicious beverage to another level! It’s incredibly refreshing and flavorful, and the candy gives the drink a sweet and fun crunch.
Oga’s Cantina
Oga’s Cantina is one of my favorite spots in Galaxy’s Edge. It feels like an exclusive, exotic space that is so immersive you feel as though Han Solo and Luke Skywalker will appear across the bar. Oga’s is a fun spot for everyone of all ages, and guests can enjoy both alcoholic and non-alcoholic unique concoctions for all ages.
I have tried a few alcoholic beverages before, but this time I decided to try a non-alcoholic one-the, Moogan Tea (Gold Peak Unsweetened Tea, Chocolate Milk, Vanilla, and Cinnamon, topped with Vanilla Whipped Cream, Cinnamon & Sugar-dusted Cereal). Unfortunately, I wasn’t a fan of; it tasted like those Red Hot candies, and I didn’t taste any of the tea or chocolate milk. There have been other drinks, such as the Fuzzy Tauntaun and Yub Nub, that I did enjoy. This spot is just so fun because the drinks are all unique, so it’s fun to try something new anytime you can pop in!
As you plan your next smuggling run, you can enjoy some bold musical entertainment courtesy of droid DJ R-3X, a former Starspeeder 3000 pilot. The cantina adheres to proprietor Oga Garra’s strict code of conduct, but patrons can be… unpredictable, so just keep your head down—and drink casual!
Attractions
While I, unfortunately, didn’t have time to experience the attractions, there are several Star Wars rides to experience year-round. One attraction that you can only experience for a limited time, however, is Hyperspace Mountain. Disneyland usually reimagines Space Mountain as HyperSpace Mountain during the month of May for Star Wars month. You will hurtle through hyperspace while dodging furious dogfights during this high-speed Star Wars adventure. This attraction is available from May 1 to June 4, 2023.
Other attractions you can experience in honor of “Star Wars” month and year-round are Millenium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Rise of the Resistance, and Star Tours (in Tomorrowland).
