Check Out the Famous Studio Tour at Universal Studios Hollywood!

The #1 thing I missed the most about Universal Studios Hollywood while it was closed the past year is the Backlot Studio Tour, hosted by video studio tour guide Jimmy Kimmel, where you can go behind the scenes of real working movie studio sets!

This hour long attraction is one of the most popular things to do at the park and if you haven’t experienced it for yourself, you are missing out! Here are the top highlights of the backlot studio tour at Universal Studios Hollywood:

King Kong 360 3-D

Prepare to be caught in the middle of a terrifying struggle between a 35-foot T-Rex and King Kong! This 3D experience is so realistic and terrifying it will leave terrified and laughing at the same time!

Drive past the Bates Motel

Want to experience Bates Motel for yourself, without the terrifying and bloody ending? The backlot tour bus will drive you past the infamous Bates Motel where Norman himself will be waiting just for you. Don’t take your eyes off him as you drive past…he may follow you up the hill!

Come face-to-face with Jaws!

The backlot tour bus will give you a warm welcome to Amity Island and introduce you to their most famous resident, Jaws! You will want to prepare yourself for splashes of fun as your bus sinks into the “ocean” where Jaws is on the hunt!

Fast & Furious – Supercharged!

Get your engines ready with this heart-racing experience with Fast and the Furious! Here you will ride along with the all-star cast from the hit movies on an exhilarating high-speed chase that exceeds 120 miles per hour and catapults you into the high-stakes underworld of fast cars and international crime cartels. 3D-HD imagery is projected onto the world’s most expansive 360-degree screens!

Drive into the set of War of the Worlds

This is one of my favorite sets to drive through! This eery and jaw-dropping set features the smoldering Boeing 747 airplane crash from Seven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds starring Tom Cruise. The set and the music makes you feel like you really are driving through the scene of the movie!

Go Behind-the-Scenes!

More movies and television shows have filmed on the Universal Studios Hollywood lot than any other lot in the world. One of the coolest parts of the backlot tour is being able to visit the sets of some our favorite tv shows and movies! You will get to drive through Wisteria Lane from Desperate Housewives, The Grinch featuring Jim Carey, The Truman Show, Back to the Future, Pirates of the Caribbean, and so much more!

EARTHQUAKE: The Big One and Flash Floods!

Source: Attractions Magazine

I know, I know, you’re probably thinking how does this backlot studio tour only last an hour with so much stuff to see? Universal gives you a little taste of everything and it’s amazingly organized and so much fun! One of the last top highlights of the studio backlot tour is experiencing a simulated earthquake and flash flood that the studios would use in the movies to make the experiences realistic!

Trust me when I say I still haven’t covered everything and there will be so many other things on this tour I haven’t even mentioned. There are 13 city blocks located on just four acres of this historic backlot so there’s a lot to see and experience. You will have to make a trip there for yourself to understand how every twist, turn, fire, flood, Universal character appearance, etc makes this the most famous attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood and you won’t want to miss it all!
