“Fantasmic” is returning to Disneyland next weekend (May 28), and I could not be more excited. This has been one of my all-time favorite shows at the park for so many years, and it has been sorely missed ever since COVID-19 shut down the park and all of Disney’s nighttime spectaculars. “World of Color,” “Disneyland Forever” fireworks, and the “Main Street Electrical Parade” all returned just a few weeks ago, and now “Fantasmic” will be the last nighttime show to return. If you’ve never seen “Fantasmic” before (and boy, you are missing out!), here is the official description of the show:
As darkness falls, dazzling special effects transform the Rivers of America into an epic canvas for this extravagant live show.
Fast asleep, Mickey dreams he is the Sorcerer’s Apprentice. With a wave of his hands, he conducts scenes from Fantasia across enormous screens of water while brilliant sparks burst overhead. Pink elephants, swashbuckling pirates, princesses and more—including memorable scenes from Disney classics such as Aladdin, The Lion King, Tangled and Pirates of the Caribbean—appear on and around the Rivers of America.
When Mickey is suddenly pulled into the Magic Mirror, his dream takes a dark turn. The Evil Queen from Snow White conjures up some of Disney’s most dastardly villains—including Maleficent as a 45-foot, fire-breathing dragon! Mickey must use the power of his imagination to vanquish his foes—and save the day.
Featuring a fantastical array of live performers, beloved Disney characters, enhanced special effects, state-of-the-art projections and superb pyrotechnics, this show will wow the entire family.
Along with the return of “Fantasmic” is the return of the show’s dining packages! You can enjoy a sumptuous 3-course meal, then experience “Fantasmic” from your table or a reserved viewing location. The two participating restaurants are Hungry Bear and River Belle Terrace (Blue Bayou to join this list soon!).
Over at Hungry Bear, you can pick up a delicious, specially prepared meal to go, then enjoy reserved viewing for Fantasmic. When you’re at the park, just head to Hungry Bear Restaurant in Critter Country during your pickup time window. There, you can choose an entrée and side dishes plus a fountain beverage and dessert. At the restaurant, each guest with a dining package will also receive a voucher for entry to the reserved viewing area for the first or second performance of Fantasmic.
The menu created just for this event features barbecued pork ribs, grilled salmon salad, or a barbecued half-chicken, served with bacon potato salad, seasonal vegetables, a dessert, and a fountain beverage. Or try a plant-based Impossible sloppy joe sandwich with seasonal vegetables, fresh fruit, dessert, and fountain beverage.
Kids meals include barbecued ribs, mac and cheese, and a plant-based Impossible sloppy joe slider.
