Earlier today mayors from cities around Orange county signed a letter to Gov. Gavin Newsom about responsibly reopening major theme parks at the same time. The letter is requesting Gov. Newsom to modify it’s guidelines as keeping the parks closed is a major hit to the California economy. All other Disney theme parks have announced or have been reopened since the pandemic hit the world with the exception of Disneyland.
CA Mayors agree: we can fight the pandemic and responsibly reopen California’s major theme parks at the same time. Let’s get people back to work and revive local economies! #ReadytoReopenResponsibly pic.twitter.com/YPmHBIXk9X— CA Attractions & Parks Assoc. (@CaAttractions) November 2, 2020
Currently Disneyland would not allow to be open due to it’s capacity being more than 15,000 people. Disneyland and California Adventure Park would not be able to open until Orange County risk level has reached minimum or tier 4. The letter is requesting for the modification to allow larger parks like Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure park to reopen in tier 3.
Orange County health officials are currently estimating at this rate that Disneyland could be closed for over a year and not reopen until Summer of 2021.

While we sure hope it won’t take until Summer of 2021 to reopen, we understand this is a fluid situation that keeps developing and changing daily. We hope that Disneyland and other Southern California theme parks can reopen and reopen safely.
Stay tuned for more updates.
