A Disney California Adventure cast member was among those killed in the heinous Las Vegas shooting Sunday night.
34-year-old Carrie Barnette was among the 59 confirmed dead when gunman Stephen Paddock opened fire into a crowd at an open air country music concert. He shot from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel across the street using an automatic weapon.
Disney CEO Robert Iger issued a statement, sending thoughts and prayers to Barnette’s family. Also injured was another Disney cast member, Jessica Milam.
“Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by the tragic events in Las Vegas – the victims of violence, the witnesses, and the friends and families mourning loved ones. We are especially heartbroken over the loss of one of our own to this unconscionable and senseless act,” said Iger. “Carrie Barnette had been a member of the Disney California Adventure culinary team for ten years and was beloved by her friends and colleagues. Our thoughts are with her family, along with our support, during this incredibly difficult time. Another valued Disney cast member, Jessica Milam, was also seriously injured, and we are praying for her recovery.”

Barnette reportedly worked at the Pacific Wharf Cafe and Flo’s V-8 Café in Disney California Adventure.
In the wake of the terrible news, her friends and family have taken to social media to remember her.
“I knew she was there, we have been up all night awaiting news. We knew she had been shot. This morning a friend with her confirmed she is gone,” Barnette’s cousin, Janice Chambers, told The Arizona Republic.
