Is Disney planning to tack on parking and resort fees to its hotel room rates? That’s a rumor thats been going around on some Disney message boards, including threads started by “Disney insiders” WDW1974 and TheVisionarySoul on WDW Magic.
Currently, Disney does not charge an additional parking fee for guests staying on property, and there is complimentary theme park parking for guests staying at a Disney resort.
That could change in the near future.
According to the rumor, Disney has been contemplating the addition of a daily parking fee to guests staying at their resorts on top of room rates, as well as a “resort fee.” For those unfamiliar with resort fees, they’re fees tacked on to guests’ hotel bills separate from the actual quoted room rate, essentially inflating the guest’s quoted nightly rate in a manner that some consumer advocates deem dubious.
With ticket price hikes raising the ire of guests, failed “premium” experiences landing with a thud and general grumbling from many corners of the internet concerning all of the recent upcharges, this move wouldn’t surprise me. But I can’t say it’s advisable given the economy and fierceness of the competition across town.
Several Orlando hotels already tack on fees for parking, but with Disney’s rates already being significantly higher than most other hotel chains, is it simply asking too much of park guests?
Again, this is just a rumor… for now. But the sources have been (mostly) spot on in the past, so it’s surely being discussed behind closed doors.
