Travel to an Amazonian Rainforest, breathe in the salty ocean air as you relax in a jacuzzi, or enter a complete state of zen on one of their infamous heated tile lounge chairs. I think it’s time I filled you in on Disney Cruise Line’s best-kept secret and one that completely dispels the myth that Disney cruises are strictly for families.
While Disney Cruise Line features the very best in Disney service, high attention to detail, top-notch entertainment, and yes, even character experiences, are many things that are for adults only. Every Disney ship features adults-only pools, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Adults are guaranteed a relaxing time and I can personally guarantee that once you experience the best-kept secret on Disney Cruise Line, you won’t want to be anywhere else.
Located in the Senses Spa, a day pass to the Rainforest Room costs $16 per day and gives you unlimited access to; Several tropical showers that feature different types of rain and climate features, 2 steam rooms, a sauna, 2 jacuzzis overlooking the ocean, and the piece de resistance of the entire experience- heated tile lounge chairs that seem to hug your body as you relax your worries away.
Included in the Rainforest Room Day Pass, you also get full access to the ship’s locker rooms, and trust me- these aren’t your basic gym locker rooms. We’re talking marble countertops, plush robes, and towels, a plethora of complimentary toiletries, blow dryers, spacious showers, locker storage, and so much more. As with anything on a Disney Cruise ship, the locker rooms are impeccably clean.
There are 4 different sensory shower experiences: Rainforest, Water Fun, Tropical Thunder, and the Cool Mist Experience. Each shower comes with its own unique set of scents, sights, sounds, and water pressure as well as temperature. The Cool Mist experience was my favorite shower, solely because of its Siberian Nights setting. With the push of a button, the shower illuminates a calming blue light and as its cooling mist begins to surround you, you’ll become invigorated by a minty aroma. There is truly, nothing else like it.
You can choose your own path of relaxation, but I chose to hit the showers and then venture into a sauna or steam room. Specifically, the Siberian Nights shower experience followed by the sauna was my favorite combination. The Hammam steam room is floor to ceiling marble. It has ample seating and features two sinks. The Caldarium sauna was a traditional sauna experience, and also my favorite. If you’re looking for a dry sauna, you’ll want to venture into the Laconium sauna. It’s extremely dry and on the Dream, it featured a beautiful floor to ceiling window looking out over the ocean.
Lastly, you’ll want to check out the jacuzzi and heated tile lounge chair area. The Rainforest Room features two jacuzzis that overlook the ocean. If you happen to be in them on your day at sea, it’s a one of a kind experience to travel across open ocean waters from the comfort of an open-aired jacuzzi setting.
Then there are the heated tile loungers, your little piece of heaven on Earth. Wrap yourself in a luxurious bathrobe and give yourself the gift of total rejuvenation as you lounge in a chair made of heated tiles that conforms to your body like a glove. If you’re like me, you have a hard time shutting your eyes and turning off your thoughts. But trust me, you won’t have that problem here. As you lay, looking up at the ceiling that’s illuminated with twinkling lights, calming music plays overhead and one by one your thoughts and worries are floated out to sea. Your soul will be recharged as you enter a complete state of zen.
My one regret with the Rainforest Room was that I only got a single day pass. For our next cruise, I’ve already worked the Rainforest Room into my day to day schedule for each day I’m on the ship.
As I mentioned above, the cost per day is $16 (plus tax). However, you can purchase a 3-Day Rainforest Pass for $69 (plus tax), a 4-Day Rainforest Pass for $101 (plus tax, and a 7-Day Rainforest Pass for $144 (plus tax). Passes are available to purchase onboard, but Disney Cruise Line limits the number of passes sold for each sailing. I recommend Disney Cruise Line’s onboard shopping site, where you can pre-purchase your day pass. An 18% gratuity is added to whichever pass your purchase.
What To Know:
- Couple’s passes are also available for a value price per day. The best part is, a “couple” doesn’t mean you and a spouse. It could be you a friend you’re cruising or one of your children if they are 18 years or older.
- You don’t need an appointment for the Rainforest Room. In fact, you can come and go as many times as you wish, throughout the day.
- The check-in process is simple. As you open the door to the gym and Senses Spa area, you’ll; greeted by the front desk. Here, you’ll check-in with your Key to the World Card and be ushered into the locker rooms before beginning your experience. You can also purchase a custom body scrub to use in the shower rooms.
- There is no time limit! With a pass, you can visit The Rainforest as often, and for as long, as you wish!
There you have it, consider yourself privy to the best-kept secret, and I’d even call it the best value, on a Disney Cruise Line ship! Once you experience the Rainforest Room, there’s no going back. I’ve been to a fair share of spas in my life, gotten numerous massages and various treatments, but nothing has allowed me to completely unwind and silence my thoughts quite like the Rainforest Room.
