Today Disney has revealed more features of the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge integration with the Play Disney Parks App. Called the “Datapad,” this interface — among other things — help determine your storyline in Galaxy’s Edge. Are you fighting with the Resistance, or are you with the First Order?
Here’s more information on how it works from Paste Magazine…
when you walk into Galaxy’s Edge, you’ll be able to turn the Play Disney Parks app into a Star Wars Datapad, with a new, Star Wars-branded interface. You’ll be able to use this Datapad to complete a few basic activities, helping out either the First Order, the Resistance or the smugglers who make the park’s land of Black Spire Outpost their home.
With the hacking tool you can “hack” into spots throughout Galaxy’s Edge, including panels on buildings and droids at specific locations. If you’re successful, expect some kind of response from your surroundings. There’s also a scanning tool that will reveal what’s inside crates distributed throughout the land, and a translation setting that will let you ride the alien language Aurebesh. And when you see an antenna on a building, or other communications devices throughout the park, you can open up the tuning feature and listen in to their frequencies and broadcasts.

Throughout Black Spire Outpost, the First Order is trying to install surveillance devices in door panels to spy on the Resistance. Use your Datapad to join in “Outpost Control,” a landwide game, and choose to support either side as they vie for a hold on the land. Winners may even find themselves rewarded with galactic credits for their efforts.
Your Star Wars adventure continues when you make your way to get in line at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. While getting ready to board the most famous ship in the galaxy, you can even take on a job for Hondo Ohnaka, the pirate turned “legitimate” businessman operating Ohnaka Transport Solutions out of Black Spire Outpost. Reroute misplaced cargo, learn how to keep your cover under pressure and prep the Falcon for your flight in this in-queue game!
Be sure to download the Play Disney Parks app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store before your visit to check out these exciting features and experiences, available when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens at the Disneyland Resort on May 31, 2019, and at Walt Disney World Resort on August 29, 2019!
If you are planning to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at the Disneyland Resort between May 31 (opening day) and June 23, 2019, a reservation and theme park admission are required. After June 23, 2019, reservations will not be required for visits to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland park. Theme parks, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and experiences are subject to capacity.
