Disney Parks to Celebrate Mickey’s Birthday on November 18


Mickey Mouse’s 89th birthday will be celebrated at Disney parks on November 18.  Mickey, debuted in Steamboat Willie on November 18, 1928.  Technically, Steamboat Willie wasn’t his first appearance, Plane Crazy was, but as it was a screening, they go by the Steamboat Willie date as his “birthday.”

What can guests expect on November 18th?

At the Walt Disney World Resort, guests can get special “Happy Birthday, Mickey!” buttons, merchandise and a Sorcerer Mickey cake!

Then, for November 18th only, guests can participate in singing “Happy Birthday” to Mickey during the Move it! Shake It! Dance & Play It!, Cosmic Dance Party in Tomorrowland.   There will also be performances by the Dapper Dans and special photo opportunities will be available in all four theme parks.   If you collect their photos at the park you will receive a folder and commemorative sticker.

Disneyland Resort will host a special cavalcade for Mickey Mouse.  It will feature the Disney Band and some of Mickey’s friends.   It will start at “It’s a Small World” and then it will continue down Main Street, U.S.A. and then end in Town Square.  There will also be “Happy Birthday, Mickey!” buttons available.

Disneyland Paris will have a celebration at Main Street, U.S.A.  Guests can celebrate Mickey’s birthday before the “Disney Magic on Parade.”  There will also be opportunities to celebrate during the Lucky Nugget Saloon show and the “Mickey and the Magician” at Walt Disney Studios park.  Cake will be offered around the park.

Hong Kong Disneyland will offer special Mickey Birthday pins and a special editions Times Guide.

Shanghai Disney Resort and Tokyo Disney Resort, will offer special photos ops and opportunities to sing “Happy Birthday” to Mickey.

The excitement won’t only be on the special day.  The Disney Parks blog posted:

“Leading up to the big day, Mickey Mouse will take off to exciting destinations such as Japan, Chile, Canada, China, England and the United States, sharing magical moments on Disney’s Mickey Mouse Facebook and Instagram pages. He will then bring a few more surprises when he visits the Good Morning America studios in New York City on November 15. Be sure to share your favorite moments using the hashtag #HappyBirthdayMickey and join us in celebrating the one and only Mickey Mouse!”
