Your Academy Travel agent helped you plan the perfect cruise on The Disney Wish, your Disney Cruise Line Navigator App is downloaded, your countdown is ON and your bags are packed… it’s time to prep for your sailing to the Bahamas from Port Canaveral! Although the process is simple, it’s important to know in advance what’s required before you show up.
30-days before your embarkation, check-in will open to you and your party. Your cruise must be paid in full before you can proceed with this step. Check-in can be done on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app, but you will need your reservation number as well as your login information. Before beginning the process, rally up your group of travelers and collect photos of passports, photos of guests, credit card for onboard purchases, travel information to/from Port Canaveral (flights/hotels if applicable). For multiple reservation numbers in the same party, be sure to merge these ahead of time – that way one person can manage the check in. Once complete, you will receive your designated port arrival time on the Port Arrival Form which can be printed or downloaded to your phone. There will also be an email letting you know that your check-in is finalized as well as a reminder to bring all identification documents submitted online the day you arrive for your sailing. There is a chance your check-in may be pending – this will happen if a cast member needs to verify something that was uploaded, but of course, a follow up will be sent if there are still steps needed before they can finalize it manually. Soon enough, your boarding number will be called and you’ll be gallivanting up the gangway onto the ship where you will receive your Key to the World card (waiting outside of your stateroom).
While you patiently wait for your vacation to begin, you can continue to use the app to book special dinner reservations, spa appointments, port adventures and special deliveries to your stateroom. This will close 3-days before your sail date. Keep in mind that if anything is showing as sold out or unavailable, we highly recommend talking to Guest Services upon boarding to check on updated availability.
When your Guest Travel Booklet and Luggage Tag Folder arrive in the mail – you will receive (2) luggage tags per person that will include your name, ship name, stateroom number, sail date and reservation number. Our pro tip is to check anything at the port in a bag with this tag that you will not need on the first day until 2:00pm. Keep a swimsuit, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and flip flops nearby in a tote or backpack, so that you can hit the pool before your stateroom becomes available. However, if you are arriving on the later side we would recommend walking on with your luggage, so that you are not waiting for bags to be delivered too close to dinner or showtime.
The day of your sailing there will be a Pre-Trip Embarkation Health Questionnaire that is mandatory to complete. This will be done through the DCL Navigator app and shouldn’t take more than a few minutes.
Once you arrive to Port Canaveral at your designated time (noted on your Port Arrival Form – after 11:00am), you will drop your bags with the attendants and then enter the terminal. (Friendly reminder to bring some cash to tip the workers assisting with bags.) At that point, have all of your documentation readily available for review. Once checked in, you will go through security. After security, there is plenty of space to wait until it’s your time to enter the gangway. We suggest getting a photo of your sailing crew! When it’s your turn to pass through the large Mickey Mouse ears and do one final touch point with a Cast Member before officially hitting the gangway – you’ve made it.
As you walk onto Deck 3 Midship, a member of the Cruise Staff team will ask for your party’s name and introduce you to the Grand Hall.
Happy Sailing!
