This past year has been tough on everyone due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic has really impacted theme parks as well and so many changes have been made in all of the theme parks over the past year.
As we wait in excited anticipation for Disneyland to reopen (April 30!), most of us are wondering what the changes will be like and how it will impact our experience with going to the park. However, it doesn’t seem like we need to worry too much as CEO, Bob Chapek, recently made a statement to Bloomberg stating that Guests are more satisfied at Disney World now than they were pre-pandemic!
“OUR GUEST SATISFACTION SCORES SINCE WE’VE REOPENED ACROSS THE WORLD HAVE SHOWN THAT, INDEED, OUR GUESTS ARE EVEN MORE SATISFIED THAN THEY WERE PRIOR TO THE PANDEMIC.“
While this news is surprising, it’s not necessarily shocking. Who wouldn’t want to go to the park with lower crowd levels?
According to Bloomberg, “Initially, attendance at the California parks will be restricted to state residents who book advance reservations. The company plans bring back more than 10,000 furloughed employees for the Disneyland reopening.”
Bob Chapek also told Bloomberg, “We’re thrilled with the response we’re seeing from our guests in terms of future reservations.” The bookings raise his “confidence that we’re seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for the pandemic.”
Chapek went on to say:
“We’ve learned some things, we’ve learned to operate under constraints all the time by delivering this great same Disney magic that you expect, but we’ve been in a fortunate situation where we’ve had a lot of demand in the past…In many cases, that has exceeded what we can actually supply in terms of how many people we can put in the park and there’s been no situation that’s been more like that than we’ve had upon reopening…I think its going to create a… scenario where magic is going to be even greater for our Guests when they do come back to our Parks.”
I am here for the Disney magic all day long, and even during a pandemic Disney knows how to give that to Guests! Disney recently showed us a glimpse of how things will be when Disneyland reopens at the new Touch of Disney event at California Adventure (you can read our review here). Experiences are definitely different, but Disney has done an amazing job providing Guests with the same level of magic as always.
