Disneyland’s most exclusive and “secret” club is getting a makeover! Club 33, just past the Pirates of the Caribbean entrance, is currently in the middle of a month-long refurbishment that will make the restaurant/club “sparkle and shine” ahead of their 55th anniversary. The refurbishment will keep Le Salon Nouveau (the “Princess and the Frog”-themed lounge) closed through April 15 – with the cocktail lounge reopening on April 16.
Members looking to enjoy their membership and dine at Club 33 can still enjoy their exclusive area while the refurbishment is underway. The Court of Angels, which serves as the entry courtyard for Club 33 members, is also undergoing refurbishment. During the courtyard closure, members must enter through the gate next to Le Bat En Rouge and use the club elevator.
Club 33 first opened in 1967 (shortly after Walt Disney’s death); it was inspired by the VIP lounges Walt Disney experienced at the 1964 New York World’s Fair, where “it’s a small world” and Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln first debuted. Visiting Club 33 is not easy. You either have to know a member that can bring you as their guest, or you can become a member. According to Eater, club membership costs $25,000 to join and $10,000 annually. Many high-profile celebrities have memberships; Tom Hanks, Christina Aguilera, and Elton John are reportedly among the celebrity club members.
While it’s exciting that Club 33 is getting some new sparkle, most of us average folks that don’t have a membership or know someone that does most likely won’t see all the updates that are being made. If you are a Magic Key holder, you have your own exclusive Club 33-like lounge at the Magic Key Terrace in Disney California Adventure. This lounge is also undergoing refurbishment, and we are excited for more news on when the exclusive space will be completed!
