Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be open until 10 p.m. nightly after Pandora – The World of Avatar opens on May 27, 2017 according to the My Disney Experience mobile app. The longer hours will be in effect until August 1, 2017, when the the park closes at 7 p.m.
The extended hours will allow guests to enjoy more time exploring Animal Kingdom at night — something that wasn’t possible until summer of 2016. The nighttime activities include the brand new water show Rivers of Light, which has been getting rave reviews from those who’ve seen it, and Awakenings, a series of colorful animated sequences projected onto the Tree of Life throughout the evening.
Of course we all know that this push for more nighttime experiences is just a ramp up leading to the opening of Pandora – The World of Avatar, which if the 2010 film is any indication, will wow guests with bio-luminescent foliage once the sun sets.
Prior to 2016, Animal Kingdom closed earlier than the other three Walt Disney World parks, and was considered by many guests to be a “half day park.” It looks as though Disney is going to change that perception in a big way.
