The highly anticipated Frozen 2 film was slated to come out November 27, 2019. It has now been pushed up 5 days to November 22, 2019. Which incidentally would have made it exactly six years from the release of the first Frozen film on November 27, 2013.
Moving the date pushes it ahead to the week before Thanksgiving, instead of coming out the day before. No reason has been given, but it’s good news for fans who don’t want to wait as long.
Frozen 2 is bringing back the original stars Idina Menzel (Elsa,) Kristen Bell (Anna,) Jonathan Groff (Kristoff) and Josh Gad (Olaf.) Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, the original directors, will be returning for the sequel. Two new actors, Evan Rachel Wood and Sterling K. Brown, will also be joining the cast.
There hasn’t been an official film synopsis yet, but according to SlashFilms Chris Buck told MTV:
“We have two very strong female leads in Frozen. We will keep that going in the next one. We will tackle other issues that, I think, are out there today that boys and girls, men and women, are dealing with…I think we’re very aware of what is happening in society. I don’t think any of us take [them] lightly, even though they can be very funny and entertaining, the messages that our movies have and the influence they can have on young people. When the kids [watch] them, they watch them over and over again, and if we don’t have a decent message in there, I think we’ve missed an opportunity.”
We can look forward to new “messages” in the next installment, and the wait was just shortened by five days.
