A third theme park is coming in hot with big news regarding a change in face covering policy! SeaWorld Orlando has now announced that they will no longer be requiring face coverings following the CDC’s announcement that you no longer need to wear a face covering if you are vaccinated!

This past week both Universal Orlando and Walt Disney World have announced that face coverings are no longer required outdoors. Now SeaWorld Orlando is following suit, however they are not requiring face coverings indoors or outdoors!

According WESH News, the following is a statement from SeaWorld and Discovery Cove representatives:

“Based on the recently announced guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, we are modifying our policy regarding face coverings at some of our SeaWorld parks. Face coverings will no longer be required for guests at SeaWorld Orlando and SeaWorld San Antonio who are fully vaccinated in accordance with CDC guidance. We will not require proof of vaccine, but ask our guests to be respectfully comply with our revised policy. In California where the state and local guidance mandates face coverings, we will require all guests at SeaWorld San Diego to wear face coverings until further notice. All SeaWorld park employees will be required to continue to wear face coverings at this time. The safety of our guests, Ambassadors and animals in our care remains our top priority. We will continue to monitor and address this changing environment as necessary. For more information, guests can stay up to date on our park policies by visiting our dedicated safety website.”

Discovery Cove:

“Based on the recently announced guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, we are modifying our policy regarding face coverings at Discovery Cove. Face coverings will no longer be required for guests at Discovery Cove who are fully vaccinated in accordance with CDC guidance. We will not require proof of vaccine, but ask our guests to be respectfully comply with our revised policy. All Discovery Cove employees will be required to continue to wear face coverings at this time. The safety of our guests, Ambassadors and animals in our care remains our top priority. We will continue to monitor and address this changing environment as necessary. For more information, guests can stay up to date on our park policies by visiting our dedicated safety website.”

While most attractions at SeaWorld Orlando take place outdoors anyway, this is big news for the theme park! As stated above, SeaWorld San Diego policy’s have still not changed (although they are now welcoming out-of-state vaccinated guests!) and are still requiring guests to wear face coverings because of California’s mandates. California is on the verge of entering into the yellow tier, which is the least restrictive tier, so we expect more mandates to loosen up as we head into summer.

We will continue to provide updates as things change for the California theme parks!
