It would seem that the luxury resort that was planned for Disneyland is officially cancelled. According to reports, Liz Jaeger, a Disney spokesperson has confirmed the cancellation, although there has yet to be an official press release.
“We’ve taken the time to review the economics of our proposed Four Diamond hotel for Anaheim and have made the final decision to cancel the project. While this is disappointing for many, the conditions and agreements that stimulated this investment in Anaheim no longer exist and we must therefore adjust our long-term investment strategy.”
The cancellation comes after a highly-publicized acrimonious situation between the Walt Disney Company and the City of Anaheim over tax incentives.
No longterm plans have been announced regarding usage the space, which caused the closure of several Downtown Disney businesses earlier this year.
Currently Earl of Sandwich has reopened, and Disneyland has brought in food trucks to help fill the void.
