I’m bringing the Island of Motunui to you! What can I say, except “You’re Welcome!” What better time to introduce a delicious and refreshing green smoothie recipe to your menu at home than right now when we all can use an extra boost in vitamins and minerals? While at home and watching the hit Disney movie “Moana,” I came up with this Green Smoothie of Te Fiti Disney at Home recipe to make us feel like we were stranded on an island in the sun with a bountiful supply of fresh produce! It was a gloomy day outside, but this smoothie brightened us all up with smooth tropical flavors, and of course, coconut! It had us singing “It’s all we need!”

This Green Smoothie of Te Fiti Disney at Home recipe is vegan and gluten free as is. There are many variations that can create the same end result of tasty flavors and tons of nutrients, so feel free to substitute as needed with suggestions listed below.

Coconut milk – Any milk of choice, or diluted yogurt
Frozen pineapple – Canned or fresh pineapple or 100% pineapple juice
Frozen mango – fresh mango
Frozen cut leaf spinach – fresh or frozen kale or fresh spinach leaves
Fresh avocado – Extra coco nut milk or frozen avocado
Clementine – orange or orange juice
Vanilla Extract – skip if using a vanilla flavored milk or yogurt, or try coconut extract
Green Smoothie of Te Fiti Disney at Home Recipe
Makes three 8-oz smoothies
Ingredients
4 ice cubes
1/2 cup frozen pineapple chunks
1/2 cup frozen mango chunks
1/2 banana (fresh or frozen)
1 clementine, peeled and seeds discarded
1/4 fresh avocado
1/2 cup frozen cut leaf spinach
1 cup unsweetened coconut milk
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup water
1 Tbsp shredded unsweetened coconut
Directions
- Add first seven ingredients into a blender in order listed, leaving out the liquids and shredded coconut.
- In a liquid measuring cup, add in the coconut milk, water and vanilla extract. Stir to combine then add to blender.
- Blend on smoothie mode for 1 minute, then on blend mode for 1 more minute. (Note: smoothie mode is same as blend mode but with periodic pauses to allow for solids to sink to bottom near blades and blend well throughout. You can do this manually if needed).
- Pour Smoothie into three jars and sprinkle with shredded coconut. Enjoy immediately while cold!


As a Dietitian, I am always finding tasty ways to sneak in important nutrients for my family. This smoothie is bursting with Vitamins A, C and K, as well calcium. It is hydrating and refreshing too! My kids are quite the picky eaters when it comes to eating greens, but once blended into this green smoothie, they fall for the fun bright color and the theme of Moana!
