A hazmat team is cleaning up a chemical spill Tuesday at Hollywood Studios, according to the state.
About 255 gallons of sodium hypochlorite spilled from a storage tank on the ground because of an equipment failure, according to a notice from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
According to the National Institute of Health, sodium hypochlorite is a chemical is often used as a disinfectant or as a bleach.
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection states in a note that no waterways were affected and that the spill was contained. They also acknowledged that a cleanup was in process at the Reedy Creek Energy Services Chiller Plant. That plant is directly behind the Beauty and the Beast Stage at Hollywood Studios.
Reedy Creek has not issued their own statement.
