I recently put together a list of my top favorite healthy menu picks of snacks and meals at Magic Kingdom. Today, I’m chatting about finding those better-for-you options on the kids’ menu! When I travel with my little ones, I know ice cream cones, French fries and cookies are bound to pop up throughout the trip. However, my children really benefit from keeping some familiar healthy foods in the rotation while we are away. Not only does it improve their behavior, but it also keeps their digestive system regular and their immune system strong while we’re traveling. Fortunately, Walt Disney World does a great job of incorporating healthy foods for children on the kids’ menus and most are easy to find with the Mickey Check symbol. Check out the list below and use this as a reference guide when feeding your brood during your magical stay!

These menus offer parents the opportunity to fit in some nutrition while on vacation. If you’re lucky like me, your kids will try a new item and love it so much they’ll wish to continue eating it at home (ahem- broccoli). The magic of Disney!
Packing your own healthy snacks is another way to keep kids healthy while on vacation. Did you know you are able to bring your own food into Disney Theme Parks packed in insulated lunch boxes? It’s convenient to snack while waiting in line and lessens the burden on your wallet too. Some of our favorite snacks to pack include squeeze apple sauce and yogurt packs, fresh fruit, cheese sticks, whole grain crackers, and water bottles. When you do decide to indulge in those special Disney treats, you can share them to control portion size. While our eyes may tell us we can eat the WHOLE cupcake alone, our stomach will tell us otherwise the minute we step on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad! And remember, just because your kids are under the age of 9 does not mean they MUST eat from the kids’ menu- they’re welcome to order items off the regular dining menus as well. Check out our healthy picks from those menus here.
If your child has food allergies or a medical condition like diabetes, packing familiar safe snacks is an especially important tip to remember! For more on visiting Walt Disney World with diabetes click here, and for more on managing food allergies at Disney, click here.
