Let’s all raise our wands in tribute for a beloved actress from the world of Harry Potter. Helen McCrory, the actress who played Narcissa Malfoy in the Harry Potter franchise, sadly passed away today at the age of 52.
Her husband Damian Lewis wrote on Twitter on Friday:
“I’m heartbroken to announce that after a heroic battle with cancer, the beautiful and mighty woman that is Helen McCrory has died peacefully at home, surrounded by a wave of love from friends and family. She died as she lived. Fearlessly. God we love her and know how lucky we are to have had her in our lives. She blazed so brightly. Go now, Little One, into the air, and thank you.”

J.K. Rowling and the World of Harry Potter also paid tribute to the actress on Twitter today:
I’m devastated to learn of the death of Helen McCrory, an extraordinary actress and a wonderful woman who’s left us far too soon. My deepest condolences to her family, especially her husband and children. Simply heartbreaking news.

According to Variety, McCrory began her career on stage and appeared in more than 25 productions during the 1990s through the mid 2010s. Her stage credits included Macbeth, Pride and Prejudice, As You Like It, Medea and many more. She joined the Harry Potter family in The Half-Blood Prince, playing Narcissa Malfoy, the mother of Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton) and wife to Lucius Malfoy (Jason Isaacs). She came back to play the role one last time in the two-part finale of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
This amazing actress will be very missed and our hearts go out to her family!
